Albanian Minerals’ esteemed CEO, Sahit Muja, elucidates the paramount importance of chromium metal, heralded as a cornerstone of the global economy. Muja accentuates the significance of Albania’s mountainous region of Tropoje, which harbors an extraordinary reserve of chrome ore. A comprehensive survey conducted among premier global mining enterprises specializing in chrome corroborates this alarming trend. Many have extensively exploited high-grade chrome deposits located near the surface, resulting in a steady escalation of production costs for chromium and ferrochrome, with little indication of an imminent reversal. Consequently, a substantial deficit in the global supply of high-grade chrome ore is anticipated for 2024, presenting formidable challenges for industries reliant on these vital metals.

Chromium and ferrochrome alloys are quintessential components in the steel industry, lauded for their exceptional corrosion resistance, high-temperature strength, and unique magnetic and thermal expansion properties.
